Jon Spenser, DP

Jon is one of the most humble and kind people I know. He can hold his breath for nearly as long as he can hand hold a camera, due to that time that worked on Temptation Island. He only wears fins if he’s holding a camera, but otherwise bodysurfs without them, which is a bit frustrating for everyone else.

For years he’s been swimming out into the heaviest surf in Maui with his camera and calm demeanor to film his friends; some of Maui’s finest surfers. He is more at home with corals and waves than with humans, and his piece Corals Waves and Humans is a visual poem that captures that perfectly. Writing his own bio is so much more stressful and embarrassing than swimming in the lineup at Peahi, so Mike D stepped in to help.
